The benefits of herbs and spices for dogs

When you buy a complete and balanced pet food, it is formulated to FEDIAF European guidelines. These guidelines are a good starting point for covering base nutritional needs, however the addition of herbs and spices mimic the more natural ancestral composition of diet.

Every Different Dog recipe contains delicious herbs, and a number of other spices and superfoods, like chia seeds, kelp and turmeric.

Herbs and spices are full of antioxidants and polyphenols. The green chlorophyll in herbs act as a powerful antioxidant, promoting of excretion of toxins internally and externally. They also support in alkalising the body and can be used medicinally.

Adding herbs to your pet’s food can also provide fibre, protein, vitamins and minerals. Just 2 teaspoons of dried basil contains and much calcium as a glass of milk!

Herbs can also bring a variety of taste experiences to your dog. Just like humans, dogs have preferences when it comes to flavours and tastes, so diversity is key to supporting optimal health and keeping your dog happy and interested in their food.

A selection of the herbs & spices we use in our food:
