We're Different Dog, and we've been making real, freshly cooked food for dogs since 2017. Not ‘beige-bag-that-rattles' food. Actual food - the kind you can look at and recognise. But the why behind all of it matters just as much as the what, so let us introduce you properly. 

Alex and Charlie - our founders 

It all started with a dog called Crumble. 

Our founders, Alex and Charlie, saw first-hand what goes into the usual processed dog food. It's not pretty. And it's far from nutritious. They knew there and then that it wasn’t good enough for crumble, and it wasn’t good enough for your dog either. 

So they set out to do everything differently, starting with fresh, nutritious meals they can trust. Real ingredients, real care and no shortcuts. Because when dogs are properly nourished, they thrive. 

Even after all of these years, the mission hasn't changed a bit. We're still here to change dogs' lives with real food. 

Safety taken seriously 

Making food that looks lovely is easy. Making food that's genuinely, provably good for your dog - every batch, every time - takes a great deal more work behind the scenes. And that's where we don't cut corners. 

We test our food for both nutrition and microbiology more than any other dog food company, in accredited UK laboratories, to make sure everything meets the FEDIAF guidelines (the European benchmark for complete, balanced pet nutrition). On top of that independent lab testing, we rigorously and regularly assess the quality of our food in-house too. 

In short: nothing leaves our kitchen until we're certain it's safe, complete, and up to the standard your dog deserves. Peace of mind for you; a proper dinner for them. 

Taste tested - not just by dogs! 

Here's one of our favourite traditions. Every Thursday, Alex, Charlie and the team taste test random batches of each recipe themselves. 

Yes - the humans eat the dog food. On purpose. Every week. 

It's the simplest quality check there is, and one of the most telling. If it doesn't taste as fresh, as good, and as right as it always has, we'll know immediately. Our dogs can't tell us when something's off and so we make very sure we'd notice first. (For the record: the recipes hold up. Every Thursday). 

Independent experts 

We're dog lovers, but we're not too proud to know what we don't know. That's why we've got genuine experts guiding what goes into every bowl. 

Don't just take our word for it - take theirs! 

We could tell you our food is brilliant all day long. But we'd much rather let the people who feed it to their dogs do the talking. 

Different Dog is rated 4.9 on Trustpilot, across thousands of reviews - and the same themes come up again and again: fussy dogs who'd turned their noses up at everything else, now licking the bowl clean; sensitive stomachs settling; Coats getting shinier; energy levels climbing.

That last part matters to us as much as the food does. Because feeding your best friend isn't a transaction. It's a relationship and we're in it for the long haul.
