Atlantic Salmon dog food – our newest recipe

Everything you need to know about our new fresh salmon dog food – the ingredients, the benefits and the dogs it suits best.
Atlantic Salmon is officially on the menu – sustainably sourced salmon and white fish, butternut squash, broccoli and a hint of mint, gently cooked by our chefs in Shropshire. Think of it as your dog's very own fish pie. Like everything we make, it’s crafted to nourish them from the inside out, to a standard we’re genuinely proud of.

What's in our Atlantic Salmon recipe?
Full transparency – here's everything that goes into every serving:
Atlantic salmon, white fish, sweet potato, butternut squash, broccoli, spinach, apple, button mushrooms, chia seeds, mint, minerals and turmeric.
That’s it. No fillers, additives, preservatives, or heavily processed seed oils (which emerging research suggests aren't great for long-term health). Just real, recognisable ingredients, each chosen for a specific nutritional purpose.

The ingredients, and why they're in there
Every ingredient is chosen with purpose and care – selected by our in-house nutritionist for what it contributes nutritionally, and signed off by the only taste test that really counts: licked-clean bowls.
Atlantic salmon
A nutrient-dense protein packed with omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins and selenium. Omega-3 helps reduce inflammation, while selenium and B vitamins support a healthy immune system. It's also one of the most skin and coat-friendly proteins going – something most dog parents notice fairly quickly after switching.

White fish
White fish adds to the amino acid profile and helps build a diverse, healthy gut. It also naturally balances the calcium levels in this recipe making Atlantic Salmon nutritionally suitable for dogs at every life stage.

Butternut squash
Naturally rich in vitamins A, C and E, butternut squash supports immunity and eye health. It's also a reliable source of dietary fibre, keeping digestion steady and stools firm.

Broccoli
Packed with antioxidants and essential vitamins, broccoli supports immunity, healthy digestion and bone health.

We believe in building every meal around wholefoods – ingredients you'd recognise and reach for in your own kitchen – that provide natural vitamins and minerals rather than synthetic alternatives. Nothing dogs don't need, and nothing they won't benefit from.
The health benefits of salmon for dogs
Its omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and support brain, heart and joint health. Its selenium and B vitamins contribute to a healthy immune system. As a gentle, easily tolerated protein, salmon is a natural fit for dogs with food sensitivities – where it is less likely to trigger a reaction than more commonly fed proteins like chicken or beef.
Introducing a new protein adds much-needed variety to their diet, fueling a diverse microbiome and delivering a wider range of nutrients. If your dog has been eating the same protein for years, this switch alone can make a world of difference.
Omega-3 is also well established for its role in supporting healthy skin and a glossy coat, making Atlantic Salmon a particularly good option for dogs prone to dry or flaky skin.

Who is Atlantic Salmon right for?
Atlantic Salmon is formulated to meet FEDIAF guidelines as a complete and balanced meal for dogs at all life stages. Every dog gets a tailored meal plan, personalised to their age, stage and activity level – so whether you have a puppy, an adult or a senior, their nutritional needs are always accounted for.
Here's where Atlantic Salmon really comes into its own:
Puppies
Salmon is a high-quality, nutrient-dense protein that supports healthy development from the start. Rich in calcium, amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids, it's also highly digestible – a real advantage for puppies with sensitive stomachs.
Senior dogs
At 130kcal per 100g, Atlantic Salmon is one of our lighter recipes—ideal for older dogs who prefer a slower pace of life. The omega-3s help soothe stiff joints, while fibre from butternut squash and broccoli keeps digestion moving smoothly. It's a recipe built to support comfortable, active aging without compromising on nutrition.
Dogs with sensitive stomachs
Salmon is a gentle, easily tolerated protein, well suited to dogs who struggle with richer alternatives. The broccoli and chia seeds in this recipe also work to keep digestion calm and settled.
Allergy-prone dogs
As an alternative protein source, salmon naturally bypasses the common dietary triggers found in standard beef or chicken recipes. Plus, the rich omega-3 content delivers a welcome boost to skin and coat health – something that can be a persistent challenge for dogs managing allergies. If your dog has confirmed allergies or complex sensitivities, speak to your vet before making any dietary changes.
Because many dogs haven't tried salmon before, it's an excellent option for avoiding the typical flare-ups caused by chicken or beef. The high omega-3 content also delivers a welcome boost to skin and coat health.
Why Atlantic Salmon was worth the wait
This recipe has been a long time in the making, and that's something we're proud of.
"The nutritional data from our early trials was acceptable, but acceptable isn't what we set out for," says Steph Lightbown, our Nutritionist and Product Development Lead. "We care deeply about ingredients, nutrition, quality and the health of dogs – and all of that has to be shown in the data before a recipe is ready to share. So we kept refining. Multiple reformulations, additional testing rounds, until the results were what we'd been working towards. That takes time. And that's exactly as it should be."

The first batches went down well with our in-house team of taste testers – two and four-legged alike. But we kept trialling until the nutritional data met our high internal standards that we set. Once it hit that standard, Atlantic Salmon went to our Difference Makers community for real-world taste-testing with their dogs.
What our Difference Makers said
The verdict came in quickly.
"Please make it available as a recipe choice as soon as possible!!"
"Can I order more?!"
Dogs who are notoriously hard to please responded particularly well, making Atlantic Salmon a firm favourite with fussy eaters. And it doesn't carry a strong fishy smell – a detail the testers were notably relieved about.
About our Difference Makers programme
Our Difference Makers community gets early access to new recipes in exchange for honest feedback via a short survey. If you haven't joined yet, register your interest here. Participants are selected at random for each new trial.
