Regardless of age and breed, the main cause of obesity is food. This can be caused by the type of diet, the portion size, or both! Feeding a fresh diet is naturally anti-inflammatory and helps your dog efficiently manage its metabolism. Here are two recipes suitable for pups who need to lose a few pounds.

This recipe is ideal for dogs who require a low-fat diet to help lose a few pounds. Every bowlful is gently cooked with lean turkey breast alongside red cabbage, carrots and high-fibre apples. We've also added squash and chia seeds to help aid digestion and improve gut health.
This fish dish contains highly digestible low-fat protein, so we often recommend it for dogs who need a low-calorie option. Hand-cooked to enhance overall health we've included antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients such as turmeric, broccoli and mushrooms.

Treating overweight dogs - Arthur's story
My Pug, Arthur, absolutely LOVES this food! He was a little on the chonky side, so I wanted to change his food as he has been on dried food since he was a puppy. The dry kibble was obviously high in carbs and fat because as soon as he started on Different Dog, he was a different dog!! He’s lost weight and he’s got more energy! His favourite recipes are Pawfect Picnic and Braised Beef, so it's a big paws up from Arthur!

Different Dog is an outstanding dog food
My dogs are healthy and happy, with 'pleasant' poos and much reduced itching. Their weight is spot on. The food is expensive, there's no denying that, but I've saved on prebiotics, probiotics and all manner of sprays and creams for itchy skin. The wide range of proteins and recipes means there should be something for all. Website is user friendly and allows a great deal of flexibility. Packaging is great, surviving all weathers. Thanks Different Dog.

Exceptional product
My cockapoo has been happily eating your food since July 2024. For the previous 4 years of her life we were on a cycle of new food , gastrointestinal upset, vets bills and then reset with new food again. I can happily report that her only visit to the vet this last year has been her annual booster vaccination. We have tried most of your recipes and she always loves the turkey ones. She has maintained a perfect weight all year and is a much happier dog overall . I recommend you all the time to fellow dog owners . You really do deserve five stars.
